RCW - Bolshevik infantry

These are the last of my Bolshevik infantry I needed to complete. I picked them up as part of an EBay bundle. Once I add these to the others will give me 6 units of standard Bolshevik infantry.

So just a mounted commander and a unit of cavalry to complete and all will be done. I also picked up the Setting the east ablaze rules. They look an interesting set and can't wait to give them a go.

More US Cavalry

I know I said I would get some of the mounted cavalry to match the first batch of figures, but, I was sent a Fistful of Lead scenario for the Little Bighorn, in which I needed 10 troopers on foot and 20 Native Americans. So a change of order was made and here they are. All from Artizan miniatures.

I'm quite happy with how they've turned out. Now I can select 10 random figures from the 12 I have. Here they all are.

I also completed one more Native American to bring them up to 20 after re-basing 10 rather old and badly painted mounted figures. They will do to try out the scenario. There was also a trapper from Artizan added to the completed tally.

Hopefully I'll get to run the scenario next week at the club. It does look difficult for the cavalry.

RCW - The end is near

I'm finally getting into a position to claim that the Bolsheviks are completed. Just 2 more units to go and the lead pile is cleared. So continuing on from the last post, here is the armoured car. It is an Austin-Putilov, the model is a 3d print from paint and glue miniatures. I added a base to help secure and support the front wheels.

I have deliberately left off any markings so that I can also use it for the Whites, when I eventually get around to painting them. I then took the opportunity to replace all the flags on my units, these definitely look much better than the last ones.

So the force so far consists of 2 units of cavalry, 5 units of infantry, 2 veteran infantry units, a unit of Siberians and 2 units of Sailors. Supported by a HMG team, artillery and a handful of vehicles. Just 1 infantry and 1 cavalry unit to go.

This should give me enough for some decent sized games. I've even ordered 'Setting the East a blaze' rules from Caliver books. Can't wait for my copy to arrive and I can plan some games in against the Brits for now.

RCW - Going mobile

These last couple of days has seen a number of figures completed on various projects. Some still needing their bases done. My Bolshevik force so far is predominantly foot sloggers with just 1 unit of cavalry to suuport them. So to correct this I added a second cavalry unit. Figures all from Copplestone.

2 of the models will have flags added once I get them printed off. I'll also be replacing the flags on the infantry for better ones.

Next I added 2 cars from the Ledo range. A quick simple repaint.  I can see my officers with their entourage using these.

I'm pleased this army is nearing completion,  just a mounted General, another unit of cavalry and the armoured car to complete. I also picked up another dozen infantry that will need painting up. First though need to finish the US cavalry I need for a club game.

US Cavalry

To add a little variety to the various gangs in use at the club for a bit of Wild west gaming, I decided to paint up a few US cavalry troopers. Just the 6 models all from Artizan designs.

So 3 armed with pistols and 3 with Carbines. Great models to paint up and Artizan even do the mounted versions. I may just pick these up next month.

Painting update

Taking advantage of the nice weather and light nighrs I managed to get a few more figures completed from the lead pile. First up was a few more Native Americans. Thankfully one is bow armed to give more options. Not sure what make of figures these are, a bit rough and ready, but they will suffice.

I also completed a rather well dresed and armed lady. Pretty certain this is a Foundry model. Could be used as a NPC or objective in games. Not sure if it is actually from a Wild west range, but it was in the lead pile and needed painting.

Next up was a few further additions to the RCW collection. First an ensign, just need to remember where I put the flag poles.

I also completed another unit of sailors. This time I did a few in the white summer trousers as well as a few in civilian trousers. I can then mix them in with the other ten.

That is the last of the RCW infantry. Just got the vehicles and cavalry to sort out now.

RCW - Siberians

As I got quickly bored with the Jubilee celebrations I decided to complete a few more figures. This time some Siberian riflemen. I deliberately went for a uniformed look for these guys as see using them as an elite unit in my Bolshevik force.

I also managed to complete a couple more commisars to help encourage the troops forward.

I now just have  some officers, cavalry and an armoured car to add to the collection.
