Nothing getting painted

So after having a major upturn in my painting output, I've hit the buffers again. This time though it isn't burnout. It is a dog called Milo. This little fella is taking up all of my spare time. Hopefully in a few weeks when he can actually be walked, things will pick back up.

I did though manage to get down to the club for some ww1 naval gaming that Mitch had organised. The rules are 'When dreadnoughts ruled the sea'. They are fun and fast play. I soon discovered that seizing the initiative is key as it gives you the option to either move first or fire first.

I did take a few photos, but not much to see with small ships on a blue background. Not knowing much on the period I simply sailed straight between two of the German fleets. Everyone thought I was nuts, but it seemed to work as I inflicted heavy damage for very little in return. Unfortunately the Germans stole the win as Robbo's fleet took a beating, we lost 3 ships to the Germans 1.

Overall a very fun game. The ships are 3d prints supplied by Mitch, I reckon about 1/2400 scale, but could be wrong. Hopefully get another game soon. Meanwhile I'm awaiting some 3d printed Roman and Carthaginian galleys to take our Punic war battles to the sea.

Whites / Brits and Trojans

These are a bit of a mixed bag of figures I managed to complete while the family were laid low with covid, thankfully testing negative now. The first batch of figures are the 8 additional figures I needed to vomplete the 1st company of the Markov regiment for my Whites. The figures were all picked up from Miniature figurines.

I am tempted for the second company to keep 2 or 3 figures in white shirts, just to add a little irregularity to the units. The next figures were 4 more Brits from Renegade miniatures, I managed to find them in the unpainted lead pile. These should allow me to field 5 infantry companies now.

The last batch of figures were some more for my Trojan war project. They are a unit of javelinmen / auxiliaries and the first hero figure. I believe this one is designated as Hektor. He's not the most dynamic pose but still nice enough.

Hopefully over the weekend I can make some more progress on both the Markov regiment and the Trojan war project. I also have a few ideas for a large Back of Beyond game at the club, but need to get a few more figures completed yet.

Last of the Turks

I've finally completed the last of my WW1 Turks from Copplestone Castings. They add a little firepower and leadership to the 40 riflemen already completed.

For the 2 HMG teams I added 1 of the officers, that way I can seperate them into two 3-man teams.

Lastly are the remaining 3 officers to lead the rest of the troops.

I've enjoyed painting these and quite fancy picking up a few more and maybe an artillery piece as well. With the York show approaching I may try out the Woodbine design range from Gripping Beast for a bit of variety. Now to try and finish the first unit of Whites for the RCW.

WW1 Turks

I finally got around to completing another unit for my WW1 Turkish force. This will bring me up to 4 units of 10 riflemen. Like the rest, these are from Copplestone Castings.

I now have a command pavk and HMG teams from Copplestone to do. I just need to brave the artic conditions to venture to the shed to get them started.

The only other painting I've done is a few more blood bowl figures to complete two more teams. I do have some modern 10mm Russian tanks undercoated that I want to get completed to finish that army before I start on the Seven years war project in the New year.

WW1 Turks - progress

As a lot of my efforts lately have ben around preparing for the clubs Blood Bowl league, see here orcidas Blood Bowl I feel I have been neglecting the historical side of the hobby. So in the meantime I have been trying to get another batch of Turks completed. So here they are, 20 more infantry from Copplestone Castings. I still need to get the bases completed, which should be done over the next couple of days.

Next month I will try to pick up some more, though I may try and get a few from Gripping Beast to add a little variety in pose and headgear. They also have artillery and Arabs in Ottoman service, which is always handy.

I now find myself in the unusual position of having nothing to paint for all of my current projects. I may have to dip into the 15mm WSS and FPW to see if I have anything I can paint up.

Update - managed to complete the bases today, bringing me up to 3 full squads to support the Asia Korps.

German Asia Korps HMG Teams

A couple of small additions to my German Asia Korps. These are 2 HMG teams I picked up from HLBSC. Both teams are in their Colonial uniforms which helps with the slightly irregular look that I am going for,

I think I may pick up a few extra infantry for a second squad. I also have acouple of additional squads of Turkish infantry on order from Northstar to round out this mixed force.

WW1 Turks

In between sorting out a Blood Bowl league for the club, I did manage to complete this set of WW1 Turks from Copplestone Castings. Really enjoyed painting these, pretty straight forward to do.

I initially saw these as a small supporting unit my Germans but can see me expanding these into a force in their own right sometime in the future.
