RCW tank and a new project

First up as I am coming down with a bit of a cold I decided to forgo the trip to York show, gutted as it is the first major show of the year. So to try and keep my morale up I decided to get the paint brushes out and get some stuff completed.

So as my 'Whites' are significantly outnumbered I decided to add a little fire power in the shape of a tank. It is a 3d resin printed model I picked up on Ebay for under £9. Bit of a bargain and makes up for the fact I'm not too keen on the guns. But as it will only get used in larger games it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I may go back and add a little more weathering around the tracks, but that is the job for another day. I also need to add some decals once I source some for the Russian Civil War.

So now on to my new project for this year. The Trojan War in 15mm, why 15mm? well Museum Miniatures produce an excellent range of figures, they had a 25% off sale. Also as I normally game on a 6x4 table, battles look so much better in the smaller scale. I have also gone for multi-bases, easier to move and I have my eye on the Midgard rules that will hopefully be published this year. They are based around heroes and retinues and would seem to fit with my idea of the Trojan war as portrayed in the Iliad.

So far I have managed to get 3 units completed. 2 of medium infantry and 1 of Heavy infantry. I will need to add another heavy infantry unit, some archers and Hektor to lead them.

I've now got the first of two chariots on the painting table, the last unit of heavy infantry and the unit of archers. I may move to a Mycenean unit next or try and complete the rest of the Trojans over the coming weeks.

  3. The tank should even things out a bit, as you say at least for bigger games. Interesting new project.
