In between work and the new puppy, I did manage to steal a few hours at the weekend to get some painting done. These were two units of Oscan heavy cavalry from Forged in Battle. These nicely round out my Italiotes. Really happy with how these have turned out.
As with all projects, I couldn't help but add some period specific scenery. I picked up a couple of Celtic roundhouses and some Roman tents from Debris of War. I'm quite taken with the idea of adding a temporary Roman marching camp and some north african buildings to add a bit to the Zama layout.
The two buildings and tents were nice and quick to paint up, just successive layers of drybrushing. All I have left for the Punic wars are a few various units of Iberians and some Libyan skirmishers. Though I may add some more Numidians in the future.

Really like the terrain items very useful indeed...
ReplyDeleteCheers, Scenery always comes in handy
DeleteThe Oscans look great Neil, nice work on them. Like the buildings and tents, very effective paint job on them and very handy for table dressing.

DeleteGreat looking figures and the terrain pieces are excellent, I particularly like the the round houses!
ReplyDeleteCheers Keith, the roundhouses are lovely little models
DeleteNice scenery Neil. This post seems to have been hidden by blogger in my feed....

Cheers Neil, Blogger playing up again. Hardly any views on this post
DeleteThe forged in battle minis are quite nice. I find them quite pricey though! When I compare the costs between older (less nice) minis and them in context of a whole army it's a bit daunting. I've put off any decision by forcing myself to paint all my current ancients for the second army before I contemplate a third....
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave, FIB have become pricey, they dropped the figure count from 12 to 9 for cavalry and 24 to 16 for infantry, charging same price. I tend to pick up the older packs where I can
DeleteNice stuff! Always useful to have appropriate scenery, even if we use them for nothing more than eye candy!
ReplyDeleteCheers Mike, I always like plenty of scenery on the table
