Bloodbowl

In between painting my Napoleonic Austrians I have been dabbling again with Blood bowl. Some of the guys at the club have been playing old second edition and this got me thinking about finishing off some of my figures. First up is the Troll Ripper Bolgrot from the third Edition. Instead of the more popular green skin I decided to go for red. Very happy with the colour though I don't think the photos do him justice.

Next up I decided to purchase one of the resin sets from Impact miniatures - namely the female Norse team. Firstly because I like the figures, secondly they have a snow Troll and werewolf which can double up with my current Norse team. I decided to paint the werewolf and one of the Blitzers up in the colours of my current team Odin's Fury.

I have just finished off the Snow troll and have 3 more Valkyries part painted. I do recommend the Impact Miniatures range, some good deals and excellent looking figures. Well back to that last unit of Austrians

18th Infantry regiment

Progress has slowed somewhat, but I put that down to looking for other miniatures to paint as a bit of a break from Napoleonica. These guys are the 18th regiment or Reuss-Greitz, another German unit. These are only at 6 stands so slightly under strength in comparison to the other line units. The figures are all Old Glory that I picked up as part of a deal on EBay. I've got enough figures left over to complete another 32 figure regiment.

After these Austrians I will try to pluck up the energy to paint the 2 Dutch battalions I received from Warmodelling. I also would like to add some more cavalry and Landwehr to finish off the Austrians.

Austrians on parade

Well I finally managed to get two more infantry battalions and a couple of extra Generals added to my collection, a second Grenadier battalion under Salamon and the 3rd Jager regiment. But instead of just showing these I decided to get my collection out and organised a force based upon what I had. Very useful for determining future purchases.  I have organised them as follows :-

1st Infantry brigade - 15th, 26th, 37th, 40th and the 1st Jager
2nd Infantry brigade - 16th, 28th, Lower Austria and Mahren & Shlesien landwehr, 2nd Jager
Reserve brigade - Nissel and Salamon Grenadiers, 3rd Jager
1 Artillery battery and Franz Levenher Dragoons

I have 2 more infantry battalions to paint which will replace the 2 Landwehr units in the 2nd brigade. Then the landwehr and 3rd Jagers would form a small 3rd brigade. As the force show I need at least one more cavalry regiment.

So far I have used the following miniature ranges, Bluemoon, Warmodelling, Warrior, CGM and Old Glory. Though there are some differences in the size of the figures it is not so much that you would notice and some units are made up of a couple of the ranges. As this force rather exceeds my Westphalians i have ordered a couple of battalions of Dutch from Warmodelling as the Dutch formed the second division as part of X Corps.
