Lobsters this time

Well I'm staying with the WSS with these figures, but not Tricorns. This time the Lobster pot helmets of some Bavarian Cuirassiers. They are the Weidel regiment, with 6 squadrons. The figures are all from Dixon miniatures. I'll add the flag when I get it finished.

I must admit I find the Bavarians a lovely army to paint. I think with grey coats and black horses really helps add a little menace to these guys.

Next up will be a switch back to the GNW as I finish off the last 3 squadrons of Russian horse Grenadiers.

WSS Bavarians III

After slowly making my way through correcting links on the blog (about 80% done) I thought it time to post something new. June had proved a very unproductive month on the painting front. These next 2 units have sat on the painting table for weeks waiting to be finished. They are 2 battalions of the Kurprinz regiment. The figures are mainly Warrior, the command from Dixons and the Grenadiers from Roundway. The flag is from Maverick Models.

This brings my Bavarians up to 4 battalions of infantry and 6 squadrons of horse. A nice small addition to my French forces.

I've now made a start on a new project following the end of a campaign against Mick using our WSS troops. 4 victories and a draw brought it to an end. This will see me flesh out my Polish troops for the GNW, enough to make up one of my 3 armies for our GNW campaign.

WSS Bavarians II

Despite being off work this week I've found little enthusiasm for painting. I'm putting this down to the heat. I have though done some work, painting up 2 battalions of the Bavarian Leibregiment Grenadiers. I did have a little difficulty with the uniforms as different sources quoted both red and sky blue coats. I went for the sky blue as it felt right and was the colour quoted in the majority of my sources. The figures for these are all Minifigs and the flag is a generic one from Maverick Models.

Next up I have prepped 2 battalions for the Kurprinz regiment to complete this brigade. I've also got 6 squadrons of French horse undercoated and some Bavarian and Russian brigadiers.

WSS Bavarians

In a slight departure from painting troops primarily for the Great Northern War I decided to add a couple of horse regiments to my Franco- Bavarians army, mainly because it was lacking any Bavarians and their Cuirassiers look cool. First up is the regiment Wolframsdorf with a flag by Maverick Models.

The second regiment is the Arco Cuirassiers. I decided to have a go at a simplified hand painting of their colours. Turned out okay-ish.

I do intend to a brigade of Bavarians infantry to this army once I've finished the last 3 Danish regiments. I also need to clarify the uniforms of the Leibgarde Grenadiers as conflicting sources have them in both red and sky blue coats.

Well back to the Danish which hopefully will be finished tomorrow and after basing I can do some pictures of the whole army.
