The struggle continues

So I finally managed to push through and complete another 6 figures for my Welsh faction. It's taken nearly 3 weeks to get these done. Nowhere near my best work, but good enough to get on the table, a shame as they are nice figures. I still need to add some tufts to the bases once they arrive.

The shields could definitely do with a bit more work, but will do for now. The padded jerkins came out a bit too grey, but will help differentiate them from the English. The only other thing I worked on was a simple log pile, which will come in handy as battlefield clutter. They are simple modelling sticks cut down to about 2-3 cm. I may try and make a few more as nice and easy to do.

The logs were coated in a light brown wash with some bits of flock added to look like a bit of moss.

  2. I agree with Jonathan! And the gray works for padded armor -- I have seen many illustrations that depict them gray. Something you may want to try for the shields is buy a black micron pen (0.5 or 0.25 -- the really small ones). Draw the outline of the shield pattern on with that. Then fill in the lines with paint of your color choice. The extra black gives it more definition and makes it stand out more.

    1. I use the same method as Mike. Just make sure you let the ink thoroughly dry before painting.
